ZANA Network works to revive New Orleans small businesses
ZANA Network’s video series focuses on resilience of New Orleans small businesses and opportunities for others throughout the United States to step up and help
Detroit - ZANA Network, an online marketplace and one-stop resource for small and medium businesses, has developed a video series to focus on the resilience of the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The series also highlights business opportunities that are available to companies nationwide to help rebuild the area.
The broadcast-quality videos, available through Pathfire, YouTube, and www.zananetwork.com, are each 90 seconds in length. Each video features different aspects of the New Orleans small business community through various one-on-one discussions. Interviews were conducted with the former New Orleans Police Commissioner P. Edwin Compass, and small business owners Martin Irons of Ironman Contractors, Dr. Kendall Parker of General Dentistry, and Troy Henry of Henry Consulting.

Barreto is the current chairman of the Latino Coalition, a nonprofit umbrella organization for many of the nation’s leading Hispanic business advocacy groups. Under Barreto’s leadership, The Latino Coalition works to develop and promote resources and influence policies that foster business, economic and social development of Hispanics.
Barreto brings a wealth of experience in small business, entrepreneurship and private/public partnerships to ZANA Network. For five years, he served as Administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), which set records in generating small business loans, support for women- and minority-owned businesses and public-private procurement opportunities. Barreto joined The Latino Coalition in April 2006.

With the ZANA Network member rating system, businesses are rated on a five-star system, which provides clear values for each star and space for members to provide comments explaining their ratings. Similar to Google PageRank, ZANA Network members with higher star counts have more influence on ratings for additional members, providing an element of fairness and responsibility to the rating system, unlike most other rating systems.

ZANA Network launches 90 percent insured receivables program for its small and medium enterprise members
Members protected against non-payment on domestic and international deals
Detroit - ZANA Network, LLC, an online marketplace and business development resource serving small and medium enterprises (SMEs) worldwide, today announced it will offer an insured receivables program that protects at least 90 percent of receivables for its members. The program enables ZANA Network members to purchase insurance to protect commercial accounts receivable from losses resulting from insolvency, non-payment by buyers or political risk.
Insurance for receivables, which is routinely used in markets worldwide but is less common in the United States, helps companies increase sales, get loans, receive higher bank advances on receivables, and improve their overall credit management. Such insurance can potentially triple the availability of capital for manufacturing, distribution, and other areas of business. To qualify for the program, ZANA Network members must insure either individual transactions or its annual sales volume as well as meet other requirements.

With the new Amazon.com feature, ZANA Network members can click on a recommended book to go to the book’s webpage on Amazon.com, read more about the book, view customer recommendations, sample content if available, and place orders.
The nearly 300 suggested books had to meet several criteria prior to recommendation by ZANA Network. The listings are topics specific and can be found near the bottom of various site pages in the Business Guide section. For example, a member researching how to start a new business may see suggested books such as “Entrepreneur’s Notebook: Practical Advice for Starting a New Business Venture” by Steven Gold or “Start Your Own Business” by Rieva Lesonsky. Books with high customer reviews and books highly relevant to business topics make up the majority of those on the recommended reading list.
